As my Jet lag sets in..

Yesterday was a super long day as I attempted to adhere to Paris time. Woke up at 730am as the van needs to be returned before 9am. And slept at 1am.

Still in my dreamland, I helped Etienne carry the gigantic ov
en out of the van into my place. It is indeed a blessing that Im living on the ground floor again. I would have killed myself if I had to carry the oven up the staircase in those old parisian houses.

It is unfortunate that my cabin has no space for the oven, and he had to bring it back to St Germain to his mum's. An oven will be so useful, I will ma
ke a request for a tiny oven to Matt's mum tomorrow, hopefully she will oblige.

For lunch we headed for Champs Elysee on foot & then to Notre Dame & La Seine to buy my postcards. I discovered that the district Im staying in is where big auditor firms and some banks are located. For the first time I saw stylish working class French dressed in suits sitting at the terrasse for lunch. Feels like Shenton way, in someways, I miss working...

Managed to find the beauty shop Yves Rocher which Tonia recommended. Got my shower gel, shampoo & a shower flower.

Had to dump all my purchases into Etienne's bag as they didnt provide plastic bags. A mental note made that if I were to go shopping, I should bring along my shopping bag :O we were indeed too pampered in Singapore!

So if we dont get free plastic bags, how do we dump our rubbish? First time in my life, I bought trash bags from the Monoprix near my home. 5SGD for 25 bags!

Made some interesting findings at the supermarket. Tissue boxes are not common in France. You cant buy them in packs of 6 boxes because the French seldom use them, unless they catch a flu. It makes sense, at home, we can use towels instead.

Well, I must learn to be more eco friendly!

And for that, I shall not buy anymore "packet tissues". No need use it to "chop" seats in the terrasse anyway hahaha...

Dinner was at Odeon- a lively student district near Latin quarter. The assortment of beer was impressive at the Horse's Taverne. The guys were amazed when I ordered Guinness, to them, it was a man's drink. Actually all I wanted was to try Guinness from the tap which we cant find in Singapore. Met the high school mates of Etienne. They were all very chatty and nice, however by the 30th min, I was too tired to comprehend anything in french.
For your record, i still suck in my french... haiz

Fortunately we adjourned to the restaurant La Boussole for dinner. A little walk in the cold, perked me up.
La Boussole is a interesting restaurant selling french food fused with curry spices. The unique and yet tasty food makes it a place I will come back again. la-boussole.com

The weather is getting cold, it might be one of the last few times I can afford to flaunt my pink toe nails in paris...
