School Days

Remember the Smurf Song?
" I dont want more school days, I want more sundays!"..

Lucky for me, Im not "smurfy" this week. Here's 2 incidents this week which would have been frustrating & annoying if I were not in the "I LOVE GOING TO SCHOOL" mood.

1) No one wanted to present for the service marking project. At first T and I volunteered to do it, but I realised I wont be able to do a good job describing the mystery shopping experience which didnt involve me. So I requested my 3 other team mates to cover the 3 specific slides, while I present analysis and conclusion.

However, no one wanted to do it! Basically there were 3 slides to do and 3 people who were not presenting. None of them wanted to be the one person presenting the 3 slides, nor do they want to do 1 slide each.

At the end, we needed to toss a coin. The joke was, no one knew how to toss a coin. We tried a couple times and finally decided whatever lands on the floor will be the verdict.
??????? What is this lar! I thought we r in an MBA program!

And like a mummy, I spent the rest of the meeting, running through the 3 slides with the unhappy boy who was randomly chosen by fate to present.

2) We were not happy with the grading for a project as we felt the prof did not mark us fairly. So we talked to him and in the end, got our grades "upgraded".
Ive often heard of people getting their grades amended after speaking to the profs. This is to be the most shocking thing Ive learnt in this program. And I was surprised that I managed to do it too!

I should have done that before so that my grades could have been better.

Since the credibility of the prof's initial judgement is lost, what is the point of being motivated to do a good paper? No wonder M. Morriset laughed when we chased him for the grades. He said, grades are not as important as we think. OF COURSE!

If we can negotiate for our grades, of coz, they are not going to be reflective of our ability to work... instead, our "negotiation" ability/effort. I wonder what else is fair in this world now.

That's how life sometimes is. Got to speak up for your own rights or else, be silenced....
