We missed the salty!

Last Saturday, we brought Yin to Berry Springs Nature Park which is re-known for thermal spring pools. And only a 45 mins drive from home.
We were all geared up for a hike before swimming
but to our dismay, the track was closed! the only interesting animals we spotted were luminous orange and green lady bugs in a tree
and flora wise, pretty sub tropical flowers + babes
The first pool had a little waterfall and was rather packed, so we did not even bother going down the stairs
the main pool was the one! it was huge, you can do laps in it and there was even one guy scuba diving. Poor guy was diving happily at the bottom when Et had to free dive to say hi to him.
What I couldnt come to terms with were the safety laddles leading into the pool... they make the natural pool looked like a swimming pool
oh I must say the water was nice and warm!! perfect temperature plus clean and clear
simply sitting on the banks, there were plenty of fish to feast your eyes on

Visionary Yin lugged her snorkel set from Sydney and we took turns using it.

It was such a leisure day, probably too leisure that Et even started studying after the swim... to my disgust! How can anyone be so motivated?
Actually in my heart im so proud of my hardworking and driven man!

Finally we had hot meat pies and coffee at the cute this hut called Rainbow cafe, it was perfect as we did not prepare a picnic
So what did all these have to do with the title of the blog?

Heres what happened the next day, I summarise the story from the news paper in my version:
A 1.5m young croc came to berry springs on Sunday. The territorians being brave and cool, did nothing about it except took videos and swam with it. That's how we have photos of the croc on the news paper when it was under the water.
And on the monday, a kaypo woman decided to snorkel real close to it which apparently irritated the salty who decided enough is enough and attacked her neck.
The kaypo lady survived with minor injuries and the salty was shot.

So berry springs has been closed this week.... till I dont know when. It is a pity as it is a splendid spot for swimming.

I hope the park will have better precautionary measure than having 2 croc traps around the pools. From this incident, we know that the traps are not full proof. Also I dont understand why the Oz have to swim with the crocs and not report it to the ranger. No wonder each year we lose some human beings to the crocs.

Come on, its Darwin here... natural selection is about the survival of the fittest! If you dont kill the croc, they will kill you!
