Working from home

I've friends who envy me for working from home. And I shouldn't complain because, with my job, it really doesnt matter where I live. I can be living in Darwin for all you know! opps.. thats happened already :P

But seriously, its damn boring when Im working at home. Sitting in my study room, Ive no one to crap with when I need a break. How I miss the coffee breaks in the parisien office, where my marketing/ HR girlfriends would give me a buzz on the phone, or walk by my office, to signal its "cafe" time. Then we would all meet at the vending machine which dispense free cofee/ tea/ hot choc and even, tomato soup for some gossips.

That to me was the real "office life". Ive no office life anymore. Haiz. I simply cant separate when is work and when is rest.

Like just now, I had a conf call with London at 830pm my time. Simply because anyway, Im at home=office at this hour.

And also, since Im always at home, I face the dirty laundry all the time and feel obliged to wash them whenever the bag is full. The washing machine seems to be staring at me everytime I go and get a drink from the kitchen. What can I say?! What a big contrast compared to working in an office, where we even had cleaners to empty our bins.

And if I have a lot of work, I just keep working, sometimes till 3am, since, the bed is "next door". I would sometimes tell Et to go to bed first and that I would join him in 10 minutes, but by the time I'm ready to go to bed, he would be asleep.

It is very hard to separate work from rest under the same roof and usually it doesnt bother me as I travel for business every 2 weeks and hardly stay at home more than 2 weeks in a row. But during the last 6 weeks, I have been staying put, and it is driving me nuts.

This week im nailing my next assignment in Abu Dhabi, and Im somehow relieved. I havent worked out how to be happy working from home for > 3 weeks in a row... and the only thing to do is to escape.
But i do love my job and even more now knowing that our strategic planning meeting will be in Hawaii in less than 5 months time. Youpi!

I'd love to go to SF! Plus visit your "American" house & meet up with Fifi. Just need to find a flight which "transits" in SF. Will try!
