Every time I get back from a trip, I spend 2 days recuperating from the fatigue and 5 days from the cough/flu I catch on the plane.
So when Im well and on track, I just want to settle back into Darwin. Enjoy hanging out with ET as I know I will be packing up to go somewhere again. Blogging becomes the lowest priority...Also I will not travel like taking part in the amazing race each time...
The activity in Darwin that we have started at the beginning of this year which I wanted to take a picture of, is Aikido. I still dont have the photo of me in my Keiko ji as its the wet here and is still super damn hot. After each training, all I want to do is to get out of my gear and jump into the shower. Absolutely no time for photo.
But I have a photo of my sensei's sculpture in Darwin city. My sensei is a 70 year old artist. He painted the huge aboriginal picture in the Darwin Airport and is well sought out for city decoration projects.
This sculpture is about the dreaming of the Larrakayeh aboriginal people. It is so cute and HUGABLE. All the tourists do that here! Whoever comes to visit me, I will have to bring you to hug it!
I enjoy Aikido, firstly I like the philosophy. Its too deep to describe in words, one has to experience it, but the gist is about following the flow of energy and using the attacker's energy against him. The tactics work amazingly, and I can throw a guy 3 times myself around if need be. Im more confident defending myself if some idiot decides to attack me like in Paris. However I do not intend to attack anyone that is why Aikido's philosophy of defending totally suits me.
Secondly, Ive met respectful people in the dojo and we enjoy a Saturday breakfast together after class. It is an activity Et and I look forward to to starting a weekend.
Lastly, training gives me a sense of peace- ZEN as the Japanese say. One always need to take time to refocus, especially me.
Off to LA la land tomorrow, so much to prepare.*must keep reminding myself to take it easy
