Sunday Run

I just didnt realised how very blessed I am, living on the top floor (7th in spore term- or 6th in french term). First I can only disturb my neighbours and not the other way round. Angeline slept over last night and said she slept better than at her home as it was so quiet. Also, my flat becomes a greenhouse on a sunny day and keeps me warm... this is super good since its getting cold. It was so comfortable in the flat that I didnt believe it was 10 degrees celsius outside.

I put on a pair of tiny running shorts and went jogging. Really regretted as I started running and saw passerbys in wollen coats and bubble jackets. So I tried to run in the sun and hope that as I run, I will feel less cold.

The 'sun route' brought me to the big avenue of Charles De Gaulle in the direction of Arc De Triomphe. On the way, I passed by an amazing antique market... the Rococo furnitures and decorations were so so beautiful, some of them can go into the Art Decor museum.

Soon I found myself running down Champs Elysee, it must be the most crowded place on a Sunday as that is where the shops can be opened on a Sunday. In order not to trip over people, I ran along the road where the show-off owners of porsches, maseratis, and ferraris park. The police should really come and fine them. Doesnt mean owning a flashy car give you the right to park any where.

Soon, I reached the Grand Palais and Petit Palais. Christmas lights and market stalls are in the process of being set up. At Place de la concorde, I ran around the fountains and the obelisk. Julie was right, I do see more running around. All the times Ive been there, I had never noticed the roman ladies guarding the fountains with their golden fish. I can observe things in more detail than blading.

Then I ran into Tuileries Garden, at the 45 min mark, I stopped to warm down at my favourite grass path near the louvre museum. I love this soft grass patch, am glad I came here with many of my good friends and even my mum. From here, you see half of the famous monuments of Paris; Effiel Tower, mini and big Arc de Triomphe, Obelisk, the Louvre and Museum Orsay, the statue of Joan d'arc.

It was still cold so I continued my run along the river Seine. Passed under 4 bridges and reached Hotel de Ville. The Marais as usual was so lively that I was drawn in. Visited some bobo boutiques like Zadig and Voltaire and a book shop. This must be the safest place to be for a single gal to be in, as all around me, the men were so into their gay partners. I read a book guiding gays on how to find a gay partner in 10 steps and another book on how Paris evolved into a metropole since the 10th century.

At the Jewish street I contemplated getting a Felfela but couldnt bring myself to queue up in the cold. So I bought a cafe latte and hopped on the metro at St Paul. Thanks to Julie's super cool bday gift, I always have money and metro tic with me when i run...

Friends from Spore and Chicago will be visiting me in Nov and cant wait to show them around the Paris I know. Instead of going to see Aurore Borealis in Norway, I will visit all the little corners of Paris before I leave.
