Each birthday had been different for me depending on the people surrounding me at the moment and for those who remembered despite me being far from the eyes. So thank you for the wishes and thoughts.
1. Bordeaux trip
Knowing how much I love wine and gourmet, ET brought me to Bordeaux to celebrate my bday. Normally you would think that the organiser would be him but nono... Im so anal about chosing the right castle to stay in, the restaurants to go to, and the wine yard to visit that I refused to join the 'wine tour package' he had carefully selected.
Like a tour agent, I had the 3 days 2 night trip planned out exactly the way I wanted, fulfilling all my desires except for not being able to visit Sauternes as Chateau D'Yquem was closed for summer hols- becareful). A note, if you want to visit the famous wine yards, you should contact them more than 1 month in advance
Chateau Margaux- Totally awed by its Splendor!
I would never be able to afford these 2 bottles but at least we had the chance to taste them!
We visited their chais, it was HUGE! I didnt realise that until we visited another wine yard. There is truth to the phrase ' leave the best for the last'.
I like the smell of the barrels and got quite high.
We stayed one night in Chateau Richelieu as I always wanted to experience staying in a castle. The room was huge and the ceiling at least 3 metres high. The toilet was the size of half of my appartment and had a view of the vineyards. I was overjoyed!
The vineyards of Richelieu
We swam with this little robot octopus which was diligently cleaning up the pool
St Emilion is a medieval city, so beautiful that we visited twice, once at night and once in the day.
The St Emilion specialty is macarron made of almond paste, different from those of Pierre Herme but equally yummy too.
Lunch in Bordeaux intercontinental hotel. Perfect service (we had the resto to ourselves), and the selection of wine was good. I had an evil sauternes and ET, a rothschild. We felt like we were in a glass house, the natural light shined through the windows in the ceiling and the green plants filled up the hall.
2. On Aug 15, Guigui, Daniel and I rented the cafeteria and held a huge bday party together. Invitees were colleagues and close friends, each one brought drinks and food and at the end there were so much booze left that we decided to organise a halloween party end of this month.
Very unfortunately, it was so fun that we didnt take any pictures. I would have loved to see how the 3 of us looked standing on the chairs giving our thank you speech.
3. My colleagues gave me a gift of a hair relook with this well known stylist. He chopped off my curly locks and gave me a fresh look. After 2.5 months I must say that he is really good as my hair is still in shape and could most likely last till my visit to Linda in Singapore.
4. Here's my first home made birthday cake. I thought I wont be having any cake this year and was totally blown away by the surprise. On it was written Happy 32 my coo and was the best cake Ive ever tasted. Merci, my coo.
