Waterfront on a Sunday

J n g will come visit mid sept so we checked out the lagoon which is so called the Waterfront, located in the Darwin city.

It was a nice sunny day and we had a swim. That's Et swimming off limits! The quality of photo after zooming with the iphone was disappointing...
Then we checked out the wharf precinct restaurants and found one with a sunset view- Crustacean. And it serves authentic Oz seafood, not imported!! Yes! we will bring our guests here.

And to our pleasant surprise we chanced upon a gorgeous sail boat docked at the wharf, it was a replica of "Bark endeavour" used by Capt Cook to discover Australia 200 years ago. This replica is owned by the Australia Maritime Museum in Sydney which we visited before @ Darling harbour and its project is to take 1 year to sail around Australia, stopping at various important ports of Australia and was on its 122nd day of its voyage. It was a magnificent master piece with the ropes and masks. What a beauty! We were in admiration.

This week marks the start of the 1 month long Darwin Festival (art and culture). It coincides with the Indonesian National Day hence the big community of Indonesians held a celebration in the botanic garden. We popped by quickly for some authentic Indonesian meatballs... and the setting was deja-vu, I thought I was at Fort Canning Park in Singapore.
Verdict of the AUD 11 bowl of 6 meatballs? The chilli was good but the meat balls not as good as our Taiwanese 贡丸. Craving unsatisfied.

No, we didn't manage to swim in the lagoon...but then again, I think it would be a little too scary for me and G.

I like Crustaceans....I think G also likes Crustaceans...Thank you for bringing us there...

Crusty was really nice and relaxing! Gloria had a lot of things to look at, sea gulls, big boat, food and people. The shallow portion of the lagoon with the beach is not scary, G would have been fine with that but we had too much to do already! Oh at least she play with some sand on Mindil.
